Bitcoin bounced. Traders didn’t.

That’s basically the story right now.

BTC pushed higher on Monday — up around 4% after headlines around a temporary de-escalation in the Iran situation. Price moved fast, reclaiming ground near $70K.

But under the surface, nothing really changed.

The Bounce Nobody Trusts

You’d expect a move like that to bring in some bullish positioning.

It didn’t.

Futures premiums are still sitting around 2%, well below the 4–8% range you normally see when traders are actually leaning long. That’s a pretty clear signal: no one’s rushing to add leverage on the upside.

Same story in options.

The market is pricing only about a 20% chance of Bitcoin hitting $80K in the next month. In crypto terms, that’s low. Really low.

This isn’t excitement — it’s hesitation.

Five Months of Damage Still Hanging Over the Market

Part of the problem is what came before.

Bitcoin has been under pressure for months now, and that kind of grind changes behavior. Traders don’t flip bullish overnight after that.

The October crash — and the chaos that followed — still hasn’t fully been digested. Between macro pressure, tariffs, and billions in liquidations, a lot of confidence got wiped out.

And it shows.

Even now, every rally feels more like a reaction to news than a shift in trend.

Macro Is Still in Control

Zoom out, and the bigger drivers haven’t gone away.

Oil is still elevated. Inflation concerns are still there. And the Fed isn’t exactly in a hurry to ease policy.

That matters.

Higher rates keep money parked in safer assets, while expensive energy feeds into broader economic pressure. Not exactly the backdrop for aggressive risk-taking.

Even gold — usually the “safe” play — has been volatile, which tells you how uncertain things are right now.

No Panic — But No Conviction Either

One interesting detail: there’s no sign of panic selling.

Stablecoin premiums are sitting in a pretty neutral range, suggesting demand and supply are relatively balanced. No rush in, no rush out.

That leaves the market in an awkward spot.

Not breaking down. But not convincing on the upside either.

What Actually Changes This?

Right now, Bitcoin looks stuck between levels — with $70K acting more like a ceiling than support.

For that to change, something has to shift.

Lower oil prices would help. A clearer macro outlook would help. Even just one strong catalyst could be enough to bring confidence back.

But until then, traders are doing what they usually do in this kind of environment:

Waiting.

Because so far, every bounce has looked the same — fast, reactive, and not quite real.
