While many public miners are jumping on the AI bandwagon, Eric Trump's American Bitcoin (ABTC) is taking a different approach - they're staying focused on Bitcoin.

This week, it was announced that a mining company with ties to the Trump family is purchasing a large number of new mining machines - 11,298 ASIC miners to be exact. This move is expected to increase the company's overall mining capacity by around 12%. The new machines are set to be deployed at the company's site in Drumheller, Alberta, with plans to have them up and running by March 2026.

So what's happening is that ABTC is actually going all in, while others are changing their plans.

Betting on Hashrate, Not AI

The new equipment will increase ABTC's power by around 3.05 exahashes per second. This is a small part of the total Bitcoin network, about 0.3%. To put it into perspective, it's a tiny fraction of the global hashrate, but it's still a significant addition to ABTC's operations.

At the current difficulty levels, the added capacity could potentially generate around

* Around 515 BTC per year

At a Bitcoin price near $68,000, that’s approximately:

* $2.9 million in monthly gross revenue

That's before you even think about the cost of power, fees, and how hard it gets to mine - and let's be real, those things can change a lot.

Still, it’s a serious expansion.

The Anti-Pivot Strategy

Here’s where it gets interesting.

Many publicly traded miners are shifting infrastructure toward AI data centers. The narrative? AI is more stable, more predictable, less dependent on Bitcoin’s price cycles.

ABTC is going the other way.

As bitcoin gets bigger, one thing is clear: we need to grow a strong, American-owned group of professionals who can handle the hashrate. Eric Trump said it simply: if we control more of the hashpower, we can keep the network safe and make a smart bet on bitcoin for the long haul. This means we can trust the network more and feel good about investing in bitcoin.

It’s a political tone, too. American-owned infrastructure. Strategic positioning. Domestic dominance.

That angle isn’t accidental.

Market Reaction? Muted.

The price of ABTC stock fell by around 2.6%, going down to $0.99 after the announcement was made.

Not dramatic. Not euphoric either.

Mining stocks have been volatile lately, especially as investors debate whether pure-play BTC exposure beats diversified AI strategies. Some miners have even sold Bitcoin reserves to fund infrastructure upgrades.

So ABTC’s move feels almost contrarian.

Big Picture: Conviction or Risk?

Bitcoin mining isn’t easy money anymore. Block rewards are lower after the halving. Difficulty keeps rising. Energy costs matter more than ever.

Yet ABTC is increasing exposure.

It's pretty obvious that even though some people who mine Bitcoin are losing interest, Bitcoin is still really popular in the US, and its influence is actually growing stronger.
