The United Arab Emirates’ financial system remains stable despite recent missile and drone attacks linked to escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

In a statement released this week, Central Bank of the UAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama reassured markets that the country’s banking sector continues operating normally.

The financial system is doing well and working smoothly, according to Balama. He said that banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions are operating efficiently and stably. This is a good sign, especially considering the conflicts happening in the region. It shows that the financial system is strong and can handle tough situations.

Financial Sector Remains Operational

The statement comes after reports that Iranian drone and missile attacks targeted the UAE and nearby countries over the weekend.

According to reports, debris from intercepted projectiles caused fires and damage near several locations in Dubai, including infrastructure close to Jebel Ali Port and Dubai International Airport.

The central bank in the UAE is still feeling good about the country's financial sector, even with all the changes happening. They think it's ready for anything and working just fine.

Authorities stressed that banks continue to function normally and that contingency systems are in place to ensure uninterrupted services.

Strong Liquidity and Capital Levels

The central bank pointed to strong financial indicators across the country’s banking sector.

According to official data:

The capital adequacy ratio stands at about 17%, well above global regulatory requirements.
The liquidity coverage ratio exceeds 146.6%, indicating banks hold substantial liquid reserves.
Total assets across the UAE banking and financial system exceed 5.42 trillion dirhams (around $1.48 trillion).

Officials say these buffers help ensure the sector can withstand external shocks and geopolitical instability.

The regulator also confirmed it continues coordinating with financial institutions to monitor developments and maintain operational readiness.

Crypto Sector Also Watching the Situation

The UAE has become one of the world’s fastest-growing hubs for digital asset companies, adding another dimension to financial stability during geopolitical tensions.

More than 1,800 crypto companies currently operate in the country, employing over 8,600 people. Dubai’s DMCC free zone alone hosts more than 600 Web3 businesses.

Some of these firms have already activated precautionary measures.

Crypto exchange Bybit reportedly began reviewing employee safety procedures and activating cross-regional support systems. Meanwhile, Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the company had implemented emergency protocols while monitoring the situation in the Middle East.

A Key Test for a Regional Financial Hub

The UAE’s position as a major financial and crypto hub means operational continuity during geopolitical crises is closely watched by global markets.

For now, authorities say the country’s banking system remains resilient, backed by strong liquidity levels, solid capital buffers, and advanced risk-management frameworks.

Despite the regional tension, officials insist the financial sector is continuing to operate without disruption.
